In polyclinics of Karelia, the mask regime has been reintroduced, the “red zones” have been expanded, and most of the staff are working on calls. This was told by the Minister of Health of the Republic Mikhail Okhlopkov. According to him, this week, in addition to the Republican Infectious Diseases Hospital, a reserve covid hospital should appear in a palliative center in Petrozavodsk.
The minister also said that Karelia is currently going through another wave of covid. At the same time, the course of the disease has so far been mostly mild and the main burden has fallen on the outpatient link. The ambulance station of Petrozavodsk has increased the number of crews. In addition, the PetrSU Medical Institute will send fifth-year students to medical organizations in Karelia, who will work as part of teams, complete paperwork, answer calls and perform other medical work. Okhlopkov added that the Ministry of Health of Karelia keeps the situation under daily control.
The day before, Rospotrebnadzor of Karelia reported that as of September 12, 2022, 147,478 people were laboratory-confirmed with covid-19 in the republic, of which 13.2% are children under 17 years old, and 16.6% are over 65 years old. The incidence rate is 24213.6 per 100 thousand population. For the 36th week, 2,270 cases of Covid-19 were registered, an increase of 4.8% compared to the previous week. An increase in the number of cases is noted in the age groups of 7-14 years, 18-39 years. In addition to covid, an increase in the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections has been recorded in Karelia over the past week, which exceeds the epidemic threshold by more than 40%.
Earlier, plans were made to redesign the hospital for war veterans in Petrozavodsk, which for two years was the main covid center of the republic. After a large-scale renovation, the institution should become a multidisciplinary rehabilitation center.
