An informal meeting of the leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member countries took place in the Leningrad Region . Russian President Vladimir Putin opened the meeting .

After meeting behind closed doors, the leaders proceeded to an informal breakfast. The menu was published by the TELEGRAM channel "Pool of the First," which is close to the Belarusian president.

Participants were offered tartlets with crab, black caviar, and avocado, and a salad with tiger prawns and mango. Other dishes included lazy vareniki with duck, beef and basil broth, stewed sturgeon and cabbage rolls with shrimp, chicken in sour cream with potatoes, and marbled beef medallions with pine nut risotto.

For dessert, the heads of state could try sour cream cake with dried strawberries and ice cream.

An informal meeting of CIS leaders is being held near St. Petersburg at the Igora resort. The meeting traditionally takes place every year in late December in St. Petersburg .

The summit was attended by the heads of RUSSIA, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that he would be unable to attend the summit because he had contracted the CORONAVIRUS. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, meanwhile, cut short his visit to Russia due to the plane crash in Aktau.
