Former Polish President Lech Walesa was hospitalized after contracting CORONAVIRUS, his assistant Marek Kaczmar told Polska Agencja Prasowa (PAP).

Walesa himself also published on FACEBOOK (owned by the Meta corporation, whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in RUSSIA) a photograph from the hospital ward. it shows the politician lying in a hospital bed, connected to medical equipment.

“I was hit by covid,” Walesa captioned the post.

Kacmar, in turn, told PAP that the ex-president was relaxing in a sanatorium in the city of Ustka when his condition worsened. Walesa developed a fever and the decision was made to return to Gdansk, he said. Now, according to Kaczmar, Walesa is under the supervision of doctors in a Gdansk hospital.

When asked how the ex-president was feeling, Kachmar replied: “An 80-year-old [person] with covid-19  is difficult.”

Walesa is suffering from coronavirus for the second time, the Associated Press notes. The former President of Poland first became infected with the infection in January 2022. Then the politician noted that the disease was detected, although he was vaccinated against coronavirus three times.

Lech Walesa is a Polish dissident and fighter against the communist regime, co-founder and one of the leaders of the Solidarity movement. He served as President of Poland from 1990 to 1995. In 1983 he received the Nobel Peace Prize.
