The Latvian authorities announced their readiness to open entry for Russian tourists from March 1. The Delfi portal writes about this.
"If certain requirements are met, it will be possible to come to Latvia from RUSSIA," Janis Bekeris, parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), is quoted as saying. According to him, a negative test result for covid-19 is suitable for entry, but no test is needed for entry permit.
From March 1, the republic will cancel the requirement to observe self-isolation after entry, but will retain the condition of entering Latvia upon presentation of a certificate of vaccination, a disease or a test, if a person enters from a country that has not joined the EU certificate system. Certificates are not required for children under the age of 12.
The Ministry of HEALTH reported that with the current incidence in Latvia, imported cases do not create an additional burden for the safety of society.
It is reported that in order to reduce confusion for passengers, Latvia will abandon the division of countries into risk groups, but will retain control of medical documents. The use of the Covidpass.lv platform will also be suspended.
