The St. Petersburg crematorium is operating normally, the load does not exceed 90% of the design capacity. This was reported to RBC in the press service of the St. Petersburg state unitary enterprise Ritual Services.

“Cremation and the subsequent issuance of urns with ashes is carried out within the time limits established by the current legislation. On the territory of the crematorium, in addition to the existing refrigerated container, two refrigerated containers were additionally installed to properly preserve the bodies of the dead,” the press service added.

Earlier, Fontanka reported that the St. Petersburg crematorium was overcrowded due to high mortality. According to the publication, several hundred coffins are in line for burning, and the organization does not have refrigerators. “The ritualists complain that the heat is doing its job: the processes taking place under wooden lids can be identified by the stench that is densely standing on the territory of the complex. The reason for this, as at the end of last year, is called high mortality - the capacity of the crematorium is not designed for such volumes, ”the message on the publication’s website says.
