On Tuesday, May 4, direct regular flights from St. Petersburg to Cairo were resumed. Regular flights to the capital of Egypt will be carried out by Nordwind aircraft, the press service of the Northern Capital Gateway company, which manages Pulkovo Airport, said.

Flights will be carried out once a week, on Tuesdays, on a Boeing 737-800. Departure from St. Petersburg is at 12.45 Moscow time, arrival in Cairo at 17.00 local time. The return flight departs at 19.00 and arrives in Pulkovo at night, at 1.15 Moscow time.

The air carrier recommends checking the visa rules and conditions for entering the country on the official website of the International Air Transport Association IATA. Now all passengers traveling to Egypt must carry a certificate with a negative test result for covid-19 , made by PCR method no earlier than 72 hours before departure. The certificate must be in Arabic or in English with the seal of the laboratory, the exact date and time of sampling. The document must be issued by a laboratory accredited in the country of origin.

Recall that direct flights from St. Petersburg to Egypt were suspended after the crash of a Russian passenger plane over Sinai in October 2015, which killed 224 people. In 2018, passenger flights to Cairo were resumed, but RUSSIA has no flights to Egyptian resorts.

Egypt expects to receive more than a million Russian tourists this year. The resumption of direct flights between the countries was previously announced by the presidents of Russia Vladimir Putin and Egypt Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. According to the Turprom portal, at least 7 Russian tour operators are ready to resume work with Egyptian resorts right from the moment they open. During the first month, according to optimistic forecasts, tour operators will send more than 20,000 Russians on holiday to Egypt. At the same time, the cost of staying in hotels compared to the same period in 2019 decreased by an average of 30%.
