Golikova named the leading regions in herd immunity to COVID-19

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the leaders in herd immunity in RUSSIA are Sevastopol, St. Petersburg,Karelia and Chukotka

The level of herd immunity to covid-19 in Russia increased from 63.7% to 64.4% over the week. This was announced by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, reports TASS.

“As of January 21, vaccination with the first component was carried out 81,981,007 times, vaccination of the full cycle - 78,059,701 times. The level of herd immunity in Russia is 64.4%. Four regions maintain their leadership, where the level exceeded 80%. These are Sevastopol (90.5%), St. Petersburg (84.6%), Karelia (83%) and Chukotka (80.6%),” she said.

At the same time, according to the operational headquarters, the level of herd immunity to COVID-19 fell from 69.88 to 66.6% over the week in Moscow.

In November last year, Golikova said that it is desirable to bring herd immunity in Russia to the level of 90-95%, but so far the bar remains at the level of at least 80%. “Our experts and foreign experts with whom we cooperate say that 80% is not enough to ensure the protection of the population. It is desirable to have the indicator [at the level] of 90–95%,” the Deputy Prime Minister pointed out.
