Despite the fact that the authorities of developed countries are making plans to reorient from carbon energy to renewable energy sources (RES) in the coming years (until 2035), neither Europe nor the United States will have time to complete such an energy transition. This was stated in an interview with the Energy Policy magazine by Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov.

The minister called the desire of many countries for carbon-neutral energy a "topical agenda" that RUSSIA cannot ignore. However, according to Shulginov, it is too early to think about refusing to EXPORT Russian oil and gas.

“Thinking about abandoning oil exports is wrong. There is no need to rush to part with hydrocarbons, rather, it is necessary to develop RES along with traditional types of energy,” the minister explained. According to him, it is necessary, in particular, to ensure that the EU authorities officially recognize the carbon-neutral electricity generated at Russian nuclear power plants.

Shulginov noted that in the modern world, competition between various energy sources, including oil, pipeline gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG), is intensifying.
