There is a possibility of the emergence of mutations of the CORONAVIRUS that are resistant to vaccines from covid-19 . This was stated by UN Secretary General António Guterres in an interview with Russian news agencies. According to him, this is possible with the active spread of infection in poor countries.

“Some countries are vaccinating their population very quickly. But we still have a number of countries that have not received a single dose. And in developing countries in general, we see a significant gap in the issue of vaccination, ”he said (quoted by RIA Novosti).

Guterres explained that if the infection massively and rapidly spreads across the "global south", it will have more and more mutations, which means there is a risk of a vaccine-resistant virus.

He expressed concern about the current situation and stressed that "no one is safe until everyone is safe."
