The Ministry of Social Affairs and HEALTH of Finland has created an expert group whose task is to collect and analyze data on the symptoms of a protracted CORONAVIRUS.

In the future, such information will be needed to make decisions related to the provision of health services, explained Minister of Basic Social Services Krista Kiuru. “Long covid (also known as post-COVID syndrome) will continue to burden the healthcare system. it may even become a global threat, ”the Yle official quotes.

She explained that covid-19 can cause over 50 adverse symptoms, the most common of which are fatigue, headache and difficulty conceiving attention. These long-term symptoms occur in about 10% of post-COVID patients and may persist for up to 12 weeks.

One of the objectives of the study launched is to determine the number of patients in Finland suffering from prolonged covid. Presumably, we can talk about several tens of thousands of people, says the HEAD of the expert group, professor of neurology Risto Roine.
