Switzerland lifts part of the CORONAVIRUS restrictions from February 3 due to the fact that covid-19 is becoming an endemic disease, the country's Federal Council said in a decision.

“The Federal Council believes that the time has come to once again relax measures aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus. The decision was made to lift the work-from-home requirement immediately and introduce a quarantine, as well as to start consultations on a wide range of measures to ease the remaining measures.

The Swiss government explained this decision by the fact that hospitals were not overloaded, the occupancy of intensive care units decreased. In addition, it is associated with a high level of immunity in the population due to vaccination against COVID-19 and with fewer severe diseases from Omicron compared to other strains.

“There are more and more signs that the acute crisis will end soon and an endemic phase may begin,” the Federal Council added.
