TELEGRAM is safe for all users, including those in Ukraine, even though Durov previously worked in RUSSIA. The founder of the messenger reminded

During the Russian operation in Ukraine, Telegram will take care of the security of the personal data of all its users, said the founder of the messenger, Pavel Durov.

“If you follow my posts, then you know that I trace my family tree from Kyiv through my mother’s line. Her maiden name is Ukrainian (Ivanenko), and to this day we have many relatives living in Ukraine. Therefore, this tragic conflict is personal both for me and for Telegram,” wrote Durov.

The creator of the messenger indicated that some users thought that Telegram was not safe for Ukrainians due to the fact that Durov once worked in Russia. In this regard, he recalled that he refused to comply with the requirements of the Russian authorities in 2013.

“Nine years ago I was the HEAD of VK, which was the largest social network in Russia and Ukraine. In 2013, the Russian security service, the FSB, demanded that I hand over the private data of Ukrainian VK users who were protesting against the pro-Russian president. I refused to comply with these requirements, because it would be a betrayal of Ukrainian users. After that, I was fired from the company I founded, and I was forced to leave Russia, ”Durov said.

The founder of Telegram noted that at that moment the stakes were “high” for him, since he lived in Russia. Durov left the country in 2014. “The right to privacy is sacred. Now more than ever,” he concluded.
