AIRI Institute of Artificial Intelligence, created with the participation of Sberbank, will improve vaccines. Neural networks are capable of solving problems faster than humans,

The fact that the Institute of Artificial Intelligence AIRI will increase the effectiveness of vaccines was stated by Olga Kardymon, scientific DIRECTOR of the Institute's Bioinformatics group, speaking at the AI Journey conference organized by Sberbank (an RBC correspondent was present at it). The project is being implemented jointly with N.I. N.F. Gamaleya, the developer of the Sputnik V vaccine against CORONAVIRUS.

AIRI Institute of Artificial Intelligence was established by Sberbank in December 2020 as a Russian autonomous non-profit organization. The main goal is to find opportunities for using artificial intelligence to solve complex social, economic and scientific problems. Over the year, the number of employees of the institute has grown to 100 people, of which 37 are candidates and doctors of science, 15 are professors.

The institute is governed by a board chaired by Jurgen Schmidhuber, a German and Swiss scientist specializing in training neural networks. Employees are part of 18 teams working on different areas, the main ones being fundamental research to create more versatile, stronger and smarter algorithms and solving practical problems using artificial intelligence for medicine, science development, and industry support.
