The American film studio Walt Disney Pictures has decided to completely suspend the distribution of its films in RUSSIA, the Bulletin of the Film Distributor reports, citing sources.
The restrictions will affect both foreign and Russian projects of the studio - the premieres of "Death on the Nile" by Kenneth Branagh and "Mr. Knockout" by Artem Mikhalkov will be removed from cinemas, the newspaper notes.
Disney in early March, against the backdrop of the situation in Ukraine, stopped the release of premieres in Russia and the licensing of projects for video hosting. However, the films that managed to be released in theaters by that time remained at the box office.
The company also stopped the work of all structural divisions for a while. The activities of the Disney Cruise Line cruise company, the National Geographic magazine and tour operator, the production of local content and the TV channel of the same name were put on pause. At the same time, employees working in Russia retained their jobs, Disney noted.
Film distribution in Russian cinemas was also suspended by Sony Pictures, Warner Bros., Paramount and Universal.
